  I'm using Compaq Presario F500 for the past 3 years. Currently running on Ubuntu 8.04. Everything works just fine.

  I have a Sony SZ, which still works great after 3-4 years. If I want to buy one now, I would choose MacBook Pro 13", or Sony Vaio Z Series, or maybe Lenovo X

  I know they are pricey - and I didn't have to buy mine with my own money - but I love my MacBook. Stick VirtualBox on it and you have Windows and Linux
